An aftermarket cam allows you to maximize the performance and power out of your engine. If you’re building your very own replacement engine for a HEMI swap, we recommend the Comp 270 Cam. The Comp 270 Camshaft utilizes Chrysler’s Variable Valve Timing technology (VVT) present on the V8 HEMI applications. This lets the camshaft pick up both low end torque and high end power. The Comp 270 Cam can handle both the 5.7L and 6.4L HEMI engines. It's ideal for improving the performance of your HEMI engine. What this means for V8 equipped Wranglers is that you can swap the cam in your engine without sacrificing bottom end torque or mid-range performance. With VVT, you keep your torque for off-road and your power for the highway. The only thing you need is a Camshaft that will utilize the VVT technology found in these new Chrysler engines. Many aftermarket solutions fail to take into consideration the advancements made in the internal combustion engine over the past several years. You may lose these perks when “upgrading”, so be sure you upgrade with the correct part! While most aftermarket Camshafts won’t work with the Chrysler VVT technology, the Comp 270 Cam does. The lack of low-end torque from your stock V6 engine will no longer plague your off-road experience. You'll have more power across the board with an upgraded Camshaft in your V8.
